This beautiful meditation is about the two foundations of mindfulness:
To stop. You know, stop doing things. Which can feel so very hard because of our deep wiring of feeling safe when being productive, when over analyzing, over thinking, over exercising, over doing. This meditation is an invitation to lay down or sit, and re connect with that deep presence that becomes available when we pause. And, as we do, we disrupt our habitual behaviours and we open up to the possibility of responding to our wants and fears from a place of wisdom and peace. The mere intention to stop is enough in this formal practice. Therefore, if you feel restless throughout the meditation, don't feel bad. It's natural that pausing takes some time and practice.
"Through the sacred art of pausing, we develop the capacity to stop hiding, to stop running away from our experience. We begin to trust in our natural intelligence, in our naturally wise heart, in our capacity to open to whatever arises. Like awakening from a dream, in the moment of pausing our trance recedes and Radical Acceptance becomes possible."
To ask your heart: What matters to me in this life, what really matters to me?. Mostly, if we look deep into our lives, there is a feeling of not living a life truly connected to our most profound intentions. Many factors influence the decisions we make every day, this is why is important for us to reconnect with what feels aligned with who we are. Asking our hearts these questions after pausing (first foundation) allows us to tap on answers that don't come from the intellect, but from the natural presence and wisdom that lives within us.
Through mindful presence -through pausing-, we can quiet the noise of our minds and connect with the deeper guidance of our hearts. By doing so, we can discern what we truly want, rather than being swayed by external pressures or fleeting desires. This alignment with our inner truth empowers us to navigate life with clarity and purpose, fostering a life that reflects our deepest values and aspirations, a life connected to the wisdom which is our true nature.
